8 Life Events You Should Hire a Professional Photographer For

Professional photos are a really special way to document the big moments in your life. They gift you the opportunity to look back on your life with gratitude and to relive those special times. Professional photos also make a wonderful gift to your family, as it allows them a window into your life during the various stages and they can be enjoyed for generations and generations.

I typically recommend that you get professional photos for ANY event that feels meaningful to you, but there are 8 life events that I feel should absolutely be documented with a photoshoot if you're able. In the blog post below I'll share the life events that I don't think you should let slip by without a professional photo session.

Engagement Photos

Planning the perfect proposal can be both exciting and daunting. You want to make sure that it's the perfect situation for you and your partner, whether that be public or private, a grand gesture or something more simple... But no matter what you plan for your proposal, you and your partner will never regret having beautiful, professional photos of the moment you decided to spend the rest of your lives together. Engagement photos usually include photos of the big moment, as well as some couple photos after the big moment that celebrate your pure joy and excitement at spending the rest of your lives together.

Wedding Photos

Your big day is finally here and believe me, it'll go by in a blur. Professional photos are the perfect way to remember one of the most important days of your life while you're busy greeting wedding guests, making sure you say your vows correctly, and don't stumble down the aisle! Professional wedding photos allow you to relive your favorite day over and over again, and share those memories with your family. Did your brother dress up in a wedding dress to surprise your spouse for a silly first look? Did your maid of honor bring everyone to tears with her heartfelt speech? Did you get to share a special moment before your ceremony–just you and your spouse–that felt peaceful and joyful? A wedding photographer can help you capture those memories so you can enjoy them forever.

Maternity Photos

Is your dream of becoming a parent or expanding your family coming true? Then it's time to book your maternity session. Maternity sessions are the perfect way to capture what life was like before your world was changed forever. They allow you to honor the time in your life when you were preparing to bring a new life into this world, and everything that comes with that journey. And they make a fun memory to share with your future child so they can reflect with you and hear all of the stories of what pregnancy was like and what your lives were like at that time.

Birth Photos

Birth photos are a deeply personal thing, but they can be customized to meet your comfort level. There are photographers who also act as doulas and can aid in your child's birth, there are photographers who are simply present for the photography at your child's birth, and there are photographers who specialize in Fresh 48 photography, which is done in the hospital after your child is born in the hospital, at the birth center, or at home. Birth photos will forever take you back to the day your little one(s) entered the world, but can be catered to your comfort level and needs. I highly recommend looking into the options near you!

Newborn Photos

Newborn photos are, admittedly, probably my all-time favorite type of photos to take. I love working with newborns to help you create lasting memories of your little one's earliest days. And, let's be honest, is there anything cuter than those teeny tiny fingers and toes? Newborn photos are typically done within the first two weeks of your baby's life so you can remember all of the most amazing moments of those early newborn days–like the snuggles, the coos, the eye contact, the chubby cheeks, and the tiny little features.

Milestones Photos

It's easy to lose track of the special dates, like when your little one took their first steps or belly laughed for the first time or what their favorite foods were when they were little. And it's easy for the memory of what their smile looked like for that week when they were 3. Milestone photos are the key to capturing those memories and holding onto them forever. Some families choose monthly milestone photos for their child's first year followed by yearly photos after that, others choose quarterly milestone photos for their child's first year followed by yearly photos, and others opt for annual milestone photos to capture each year. However often you choose to schedule your photos is up to you, but I can promise you won't regret grabbing hold of those special moments.

Senior Photos

Where has the time gone? You probably feel like you blinked and your little baby is all grown up! Senior photos are an incredibly important milestone in every student's life. They mark the end of a chapter and the start of a new, wide open beginning. They symbolize adulthood, spreading one's wings, and a world of possibilities. Hiring a professional photographer will ensure that your Senior has a set of gorgeous photos for their yearbook that they can look back on for the rest of their life and relive the fun and excitement of their high school and college experiences.

Family Reunion Photos

And last, but certainly not least, you might consider hiring a professional photographer to document your family reunion. Family reunions are a great way to celebrate special birthdays, anniversaries, events, and beloved locations or traditions with those closest to you. They offer a chance to reconnect, celebrate, and remember the importance of family. A professional photographer can help you capture everyone being together at the same time, as well as the laughter and joy shared in those moments.
